“Great site !!”

written by on 04/06/2013

Just returned from a long weekend break, wish we had booked for longer but then again the weather was great every day so that obviously makes a big difference. On arrival there was a small queue for key pickups but the staff were very efficient and very pleasant and cheerful. There was a big monkey talking to the kids and handing out lollipops to keep them entertained while we waited at reception. Our particular caravan was amazing it was a privately owned one, beautifully and tastefully decorated, tv, video, dvd players in all rooms, washing machine, two bathrooms and even a bath, central heating and gorgeous patio to sit out on. Could not fault it and we only upgraded to luxury plus.
The site itself was very clean, lawns well ,maintained and tidy. outside the camp border wasn't too thrilling it was surrounding by wasteland but that was nothing to do with Haven. Staff were very friendly and helpful, reception and security staff available to help and very prompt when needing assistance.
The inside and outside pool looked great and again well staffed. Not an awful lot for the younger ones to do, the play park was overcrowded at times, could do to be a big bigger, there was another play/park near the tents and tourers but again small. One of the slides was damaged so was not in use which was a shame. Loads of grass areas with signs telling you to play on them and make use of them which is great to see. People with little ones could sit and picnic and play ball games safely.
Chip shop was awful, staff miserable and food poor for the price, there is a chippy just outside the camp in the village square, we ate out at Yakkers and The Pheasant, dear though but plenty of food.
It took us about 30 minutes or more to get to Windermere as the country roads are slow to travel on but if you like driving plenty to see and do.
All in all i would recommend the site and we would return so thumbs up !!!!
