“Nothing to complain about ”

At the beginning of the month i booked a ticket with megabus going from London Victoria coach station to Newcastle. Due to the last minute decision I expected the coach to be expensive as i had never used a coach before. The price was extremely cheap, costing me just eight pounds there and eight pounds back- a big difference compared to the train costing just over one hundred.

I booked the coach and to be honest was expecting the worst having read countless reviews and hearing stories from my friends- not to mention the price being so cheap, there surely had to be a catch. My journey there was slightly cramped and there were a few rude passengers who were loud- however you cannot odds things like that when using public transport, whatever the transport is. We had one stop, being a smoker this was much needed and there was plenty of time at this stop to stretch your legs and walk around. The coach drivers there were nice and very helpful answering everyone's questions. The only problem I would say is that the drivers didn't drop us off at the stop they said they would- being John Dobson Street, they instead dropped us off at the coach station the other side of town. I am from Kent and have never been to Newcastle, so didn't know at the time this was the wrong stop, it was only because I had made a friend on the coach who told me it wasn't and walked me the other side of town to meet my friend who lives there. This could have been potentially quite confusing and did make me worry about my return journey as John Dobson street is where they are also supposed to pick you up from. However overall my first megabus experience of six hours was not too bad, the bus itself was clean, it arrived ten minutes before expected, was easy to board and arrived on time.

However on the Monday the coach back was much more pleasurable. The bus arrived 15 minutes before expected, the coach driver was extremely friendly and chatty and the coach was much nicer. On the way there we had a coach that wasn't marked by megabus, however the official megabus coach on the way back is very nice and to be honest worth more than the eight pounds i paid for it. I had two seats to myself, a plug socket and free wifi the whole way home and also regular stops. The toilet was very clean on the way back and all passengers were friendly and quiet- although that could have been down to luck! The coach arrived back in London on time.

Overall I was very pleasantly surprised with the service. I have never traveled alone before long distance, however not once did I feel confused or scared to ask for help from the drivers, it was all very easy. I will definitely be using the megabus again, its so cheap no matter how short notice you book it and its so easy to do. Both buses were nice, however the second official megabus home is such good value for money and I would definitely recommend to anyone.
