“When is a silk blouse not a SILK blouse”

Written on: 25/04/2013 by leepy5 (1 review written)

I recently bought what was advertised as a SILK printed blouse for my partner. In a mid March issue of the Guardian Weekend there is a section called ALL AGES. One of the model's had this blouse on - it looked very good and was described as a SILK blouse; just like on the Zara website. The price was £39-99 which I admit is a reasonable price for a SILK blouse. When opened it was clear the blouse was not silk. The label stated primary material 100% polyester....secondary material 100% silk. Not sure where the silk is...probably the piping THIS IS A POLYESTER BLOUSE; £39-99 is very expensive for a polyester blouse. It is a fine print and the blouse can also be worn as a summer jacket. It is not a bad garment. It simply is NOT SILK. I complained to zara that they are breaking the trades description laws. They took my complaint over the phone; effectively meaning that nothing is in writing. They were very quick in dealing with the complaint. Phoned me back the nexxt day - basically saying I should have read the label. But I couldnt read the label as it was online. My compliant is that they have conned the Guardian, online purchasers by describing a polyester product as silk. When it was no such thing.. take care Phil Lee
