Thought I had bought a beauty off my neighbour. (he is 70, the only other owner and only ever went to the golf course in it - full LRSH only 75k garaged, no tow bar never off roaded). First problem was oil in the engines computer brain which caused all sorts of mayhem and diagnostic costs so looms replaced then fuel pump replaced (brush fell off the motor) , power steering pump replaced, air suspension bags and pipes replaced, window lift replaced, sun roof replaced , rear door lock replaced - now the other sun roof is leaking and spigot bearing in gear box gone. Delayed throttle shut off is causing great concern (legacy of the oil in the loom I think). Wheel bearings need replacing. All in 8k miles and only doing the school run!!!. It is draining me financially. Worst of all the chassis is rusting badly. I feel like taking it back to Solihull and burning it in their car park. In my experience they are still better than the series 3 as I have talked to owners of these that make mine look reliable. Currently residing in it’s favourite place the local garage having rust failures sorted out. Still only got 83k on it. I had a old defender for 13 years and loved it. LR what are you doing – if you can’t make it bullet proof don’t make it. In short it has to go and be replaced with a Landcruiser Amazon.
