John Fowles' The French Lieutenant's Woman is an intriguing novel set in the Victorian era. It follows the lives of two characters, Charles and Sarah; Charles is already with another woman but can't get Sarah out of his mind. This book is full of twists and turns and the author doesn't let you rest. Its not an easy book to read and be warned it may not have the Hollywood happy ending but if you stick with it I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
