“Billing nightmare”

Booked a flight and hotel on line for a trip to Oahu. Immediately after booking I realized the flights were not correct. Could not make changes on line so I had to call bookit. The rep was very polite and helpful but seemed to be having some problems with their system. She kept getting error messages when trying to re book my trip. After about 2 hours I was assured that I had the correct booking. My trip was supposed to be a total of $5299.99. When I checked my credit card the next day there were $29,000.00 in pending charges from bookit and United Airlines. When I called bookit about this I was assured that the charges would be voided and I would only be charged the $5299.99. I have had to call them three additional times and send one complaint to customer service. So far all but $2,688.68 has been refunded or credited. I can't seem to get anyone to understand that amount is still due me. Everyone I have talked to has been very nice and understanding but they don't follow through on their promise to take care of the problem. I haven't even taken my trip yet, I just hope the hotel and airline bookings are correct once the trip begins. I have checked the confirmations directly with the hotel and airline so I am optimistic there will be no surprises. I definitely will not use them again nor will I recommend them to friends.
