“JD SPORTS -EXTREMELY POOR RETURNS POLICY ”

written by Heunis on 21/01/2013

I purchased a pair of Lunar Hypderdunk Basketball Boots online from JD Sports as a Christmas gift for my basketball playing son. I paid for next day delivery and received the item. My son is at boarding school so he could not try the item on. We left to go on holiday the day the shoes arrived and I took the shoes with us, to give to him on Christmas. I assumed that should they not fit, as shoes often do, we will be able to return them to JD Sport for an exchange on our return from holiday. He tried them on Christmas morning and despite him being a size 11 foot and the boots being described as a size 11 they were too small. I took them to JD Sports shop in Kingston upon Thames on 19th January as JD Sports say you can return either by post or at a store. They refused to give either a refund or exchange the item as it was out of their returns period. How cynical. We are now left with an unusable item that cost £115.00 plus the cost of petrol to drive to JD Sport in Kingston on Thames. The shoes are brand new and in original packaging and have been tried on once. I will never do business with JD Sports again and am not surprised to know that they are in financial difficulty if this is the level of customer service they offer. Wake up JD Sport and take a leaf out of successful online retailers' book. They all have a generous returns policy. Customers would only buy sport shoes online if they have the guarantee that they could return them (unconstrained by an artifically short returns period) if they don't fit. JD Sport has an artificially, cynically short returns period. This is not they way to build customer loyalty. Wake up or face bankruptcy!
