I use virgin trains all the time between Glasgow Central and Carlisle and sometimes Glasgow .central to London Euston, but before they un-fairly lost the XC contract in 2007, used to use them between my hometown of Dundee and Edinburgh.
The train - Virgin's class 390 (Pendolino) is easily the best train in UK (exept Eurostar.) they are always nice and long with plenty of spare seats to go round, toilets always emasculately clean.
Frequency - hourly service from GLC - EUS starting at 4am, last one at 1840... Brilliant!!!! And the closer to EUS you get, the more frequent the services get.
Value for money - cheapest way to get to London or Carlisle by far... Really low prices
Reliability - on 1630 EUS - GLC when air-con broke, staff were very apologetic amd we all got 2 330ml bottles of water completely free!!!!!!!!! Other than that, never been delayed unless it was something out with their control.
Love Virgin and hope they get XC back because Arriva have completely failed.
