My friend and I had both not ridden for quite a few years and we decided that we'd like to go again. When I saw the groupon deal for the 90 minute trek at Mill Farm I immediately bought one each for us. And I have to say we were not disppointed. The staff at the riding centre were friendly and took our details whilst we waited for Ruth, our trek leader, to escort us over to the trekking centre, which is a relatively short drive away. Ruth was lovely and very friendly and making sure we all were safe and kept together. She found out what experience we'd all had and allocated us horses to suit our abilities and told us a little about each horses personality. We were on the advanced trek although my friend and I hadn't ridden in a few years we didn't want to just go on a beginner hack. There was another lovely couple who did ride more regularly but were of a similar ability to us, so the hack was set at a lovely pace. Unfortunately due to the time of year and the ground being so boggy we didn't get to do the usual route through the fields, where I believe there are lots more gallops and canters. But we still had a great time, taking in some lovely scenary and have lots of trots, several canters and a really nice gallop. My horse Bronnie was gorgeous and was so easy and comfortable to ride and had plenty of spirit, I think we jogged most of the way back, but I never felt out of control. She was the perfect horse for me on this trek, well done Ruth for suggesting her!
Overall we had a fantastic morning and I'm sure we'll definitely be visiting Mill Farm Trekking Centre again, hopefully in the spring or summer next year. Thanks again Ruth for making it such a great experience! I would definitely recommend Mill House to anyone either beginner or advance for a fantastic time on horseback.
