“Weekend away at Park Dean Holidays in Looe - October 2012”

written by on 06/10/2012

We decided to book a caravan at Park Dean for the weekend of Oct 2012. Due to road works we arrived late around 8.00pm we had called ahead to advise them as requested. We went into reception for our key and was given directions to Caravan number 78. We were then told that we could not park next to the caravan but in bays provided at the side of each road. It was raining. There are no paths to the caravans so our shoes and bottom of our trousers were muddy. We entered the caravan with our belongings and I was totally in shock. The caraven was drab, dingy and shabby. Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, dead flies in the light fittings. The fitted bench sofa was covered in black stains and the carpet was no better. The beds were not made up and the mattress looked worn, dirty & shabby.Even the radiators were covered in cobwebs and dust. This was a worry because my husband suffers from Asthma. At that point the man from reception came to inform us that he had taken us to the wrong caravan and it should be number 71.I told him I was happy to be moved as this caravan was dirty, to which he never offered any reply. We waited around in the rain for around 30 minutes. Finally, wet and despondent we arrived at caravan 71 having called him twice to see where he was. It was worse. It had holes in the partition walls, living area carpet covered in stains. mattress had something which resembled soil sprinkled on it, fridge dented, blinds absolutely full of stains, bent and broken. Thick dust build up again in the radiators. Extremeley shabby, again dead flies in the light fittings, nothing like the photos. We just couldn't stay, I could not bring myself to sit on the dirty sofa let alone sleep in the bed.We were starving but didn't dare eat there or have a takeaway. We drove 5 hours(300 miles) to get there, spent an hour being messed about, and drive 5 hours back (300 miles). The camp resembled a prison came. There is nothing welcoming about the caravans at park dean. They look just what they are shabby and dirty.

Never, Never, Never again - Do not go, totally mis represented on the adverts - shockingly dismal, dingy and dirty.
