“Travelodge London Covent Garden is terrible!!!”

This place is an absolute shambles!!!

We arrived to find all of the express check-in machines out of order so had to queue up to wait for the untrained staff member to check us in.

The credit card style room keys were deactivated every few hours so each time we left the room we had to queue up again, at the desk, for the keys to be reactivated.

Despite pre-booking and paying for breakfast, we actually had to wait longer to be seated because there was no record of it readily available to the staff; so it all had to be double checked. Meanwhile, other guests were able to just turn up, say "room XXX, two people" and be seated within seconds.

The bathroom door handle was broken and will leave someone locked in there within a couple of weeks, I'm sure, when it falls apart!

The kids' bed which slides out from under the couch in the room had a woodscrew poking up from the base into the mattress.

Some air-conditioning wouldn't go amiss as the room was only slightly cooler than the engine bay of a double-decker bus. This wasn't helped by the fact that the cold drinks machine was on the blink.

We decided to eat there on the first of our two nights as we didn't have time to venture too far. (If only we'd noticed the Domino's Pizza next door!!!) My wife ordered the Chilli con Carne which, as the menu states, is supposed to come with pilau rice. However, the chef obviously believed a mexican/chinese mixture was in order as it came with egg fried rice.

I'm sure I could go on but I do have to thank our lucky stars that we did not have to enter the hot room to be hit by the smell of a soiled nappy, left there by the previous guests. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for our friends, who had to be re-roomed, as a truckload of Febreeze was undoubtedly ordered!
