“Feel like I have been lied to every step of the way”

My son ordered some trainers and tracksuit bottoms on a 24 hour delivery with his own pocket money as he wanted them in time for a school event. They did not arrive the next day. For the next three days, with several phonecalls to customer services I was tols that the items were on the van and would be delivered that afternoon. By the fourth day, I had given up and rang to cancel the order but was told this was not possible as the items 'were on the van' and due to be delivered that evening - to which I said I very much doubted this but could still not cancel. So the next day and another phonecall later - the order was cancelled. Two days after the cancellation - the items were delivered!!! With absolutely no faith now in JD Sports and its delivery company I have decided to take the items back in person which will now cost more in carparking fees. The whole thing has been a farce from start to finish where I have been lied to from the start. I have emailed to complain and am still waiting for a response 6 days later. i know they say give 7 days for a response but I think this is far too long if you are looking to provide any kind of positive customer service experience
