Bare Escentuals Matt Foundation formula is free of Cystic Acne causing Bismuth Oxychloride found in Original formula. If you have Cystic acne read below I have used both formulas.
I am acne prone and I also have incredibly dry skin. I cannot use anti acne products like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. I used was on 2 rounds of accutane which cleared up acned but it returned each time after 2 years.
So I stopped using liquid foundation 8 years ago and switched to Original BE formula. I loved it because it felt so much lighter than liquid or any other foundations. It also looks more natural. Right away I noticed a reduction in whiteheads so I was hooked. Then that same year my acne progresses to something else moderate/mild Cystic Acne allong my jawline only, It was less than 4 bumps but the prob is cysts can lasts for months and the only way tio get rid of them is by injections administered by dermatologist. I never linked it to using this because of it getting rid of my regular pimples. But then I read Bismuth Oxychloride found in the Original BE formula is linked to causing Cystic Acne.
Last month I switched to the Matt Formaula which contains Lauryl Lysine which I was skeptical at first since is derived from coconut oil, but is not an oil) Result: My cysts have completely disapeared yay! But I must warn Matte Formula is drying, but I rather have dry skin than cysts. Also Lauryl Lysine is naturally antibacterial which is a plus. Other minerl makeup brands don't properly disclose their ingredients. so I did not want to risk trying them. The Matte Formula looks more natural than liquid foundation, and is best option for acne prone skin. I wish they mad their bisque without bismuth oxychloride because bisque does cover spots really well.
