“What has happened to customer service”

All I wanted was an upgrade on my phone, the order was not processed although I was told it had gone through, when I checked online and could not see it an adviser confirmed it was 'ok' and when it did not arrive within the delivery time I called only to be told that it had not been processed for ‘no apparent reason’. They begrudged offering me a free months rental and confirmed delivery for Monday the following week (delivery times had increased from 1-2 days to 4-5 days) then I get a text at 9pm that day saying there was actually no stock. In a bid to sort this out I was told one thing by the online staff another by the call centre staff and by their own admission they seem to be different companies (so they should not really direct you between the two). Ended up going elsewhere due to rude and unhelpful staff.
