Went for a shopping spree to Leeds today because I hadn't been there before and wanted to go shopping somewhere new. I went in to the HMV store there and bought a PS3 game. Took it to the counter and got served by a young girl who was too busy giggling at her co worker. She took the payment off me and put the item in a bag. I spent the rest of the day shopping, not thinking to check what I'd bought. When I arrived home (which is in Wigan by the way). I checked the game so that I could quickly see what it was like, I peared in to the HMV bag and picked up the game, 'a bit light', I thought. I opened the case and suprise, suprise, the girl behind the counter had left my game on the counter BACK IN LEEDS. My common sense told me that If I went in to the HMV chain in Wigan they'd easily be able to give me a copy of the game from their store. So back off I drove again, I rushed in to the town centre, paying for parking AGAIN, got to the store and was met by some bloke who I could see eyeing the reciept in my hand. I told him I'd been shopping in Leeds and bought the game in Leeds, his instant reaction was, and I quote "We can't replace it with a game from this store, because we'd be a game down"?????? What about me? I was now £20 down and all I had to show for it was an empty game case.
So I drove home and rang the HMV in Leeds to be greeted by some bloke who was also unhelpful, I had to argue the case that It wasn't my fault that I hadn't got the game. I even asked him to check stock and he reluctantly did it after the 4th time of asking. I asked to speak to the manager, who suprisingly wasn't there. After checking the stock, he told me they were a copy up, but suprise, suprise again, they wouldn't send it to me, although I now officially own the damn thing, without the managers permission.
I am waiting for the manager to ring me tomorrow morning. The more stupid thing about it, it was a Birthday present for my nephew, which is actually tomorrow. So thank HMV, I bet he'll love opening his empty game case, I can see his tears now.
