“Being a High School player is a lot to handle...”

written by Lestatsmuse on 26/10/2008

Good Points
-Good for a beginning open-hole flute player
-Nice low tones when played with relaxed air
-Good Christmas gift for an advancing flute player
- I liked the fact that although it was thicker than most Yamaha's and Eastman's that it had a nice forte, when played.

Bad Points
- Was not worth 3, 000 dollars.
-Inflexible range (cannot jump octaves very well)
-Heavy sound, and always sharp when tuned to A 440.
- Couldn't handle the quick changes in airflow, that is needed for drastic dynamics.
-Heavy in weight and a very thick mouthpiece
-Wide embouchure hole.
-When serviced at Kenelly's I always have to re-pad my flute
- Tone of the flute is not well suited to intense players
-Ages easily and when on a bad day, has to be re-serviced.
-After a year of use has become aged and less of a help and more of a hindrance when playing 16th notes.

General Comments
Being a High School player is a lot to handle especially when playing everyday with a nice flute. But after it's first year of use, it began going downhill, it wasn't as good as it was before, there was more of a resistance to me when I put it to my lips. But I appreciate this flute despite its aged flaws, because this was actually the first time I had played open-holed flute, even though I won't play it anymore, I will always keep it around as a back-up.
