“Santa Barbara Tenerife”

Written on: 24/04/2012

Santa Barbara Golf and Spa Hotel absolutely excellent. Complex reminds me of a Greek/Moorish village with a beautiful setting on hillside by the sea. The separate attractive buildings and walkways include many different sunbathing areas. Thus, we didn't feel crowded. Try to get a full ocean view front apt, those appartments at the back over the entrance are large but lack sun and the complete view, also they are noisy with traffic at night. We saw a corner top floor apt with fantastic views, but that was smaller. Extremely clean quiet hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, good shop and poolcafe. Jacussi seemed small and cool. The only draw back is the fierce wind, as it is on the southern tip of the island. So we had to try to find the limited sheltered spots to enjoy the hot April heat.Having a separate children's pool area was good, the main pool being too deep for kids, although it was a bit chilly at first. As a relaxing holiday it was very good - just avoid the 2 hour hard sell of the free trip to the mattress factory unless you really need one!Its only redeeming feature was the visit to the banana plantation. Be warned - everything seemed twice the price of the UK. Overall we'd certainly go back.
