“directory enquiry misleading”

I had to make a call and could not find the number to the person I needed to contact. I phoned 118 500 and was put through. The call lasted 9 minutes according to my bill and cost over £17.00 I didn't recall being given the option of being put through - I would normally take a note of the number and phone it myself. I found there was a lack of any information about call charges and I cannot recall being given the option of taking the number myself. If I had the option of being put through to the number I would have liked to have known how much it would have cost. Trying to get through to BT to query the bill has not been successful so far. I will not use this service again.
