“INFLEXIBILITY”

I BOUGHT A GIGASET A510A PHONE ONLINE FROM COMET.IT WAS ON OFFER AT TOTAL PRICE OF £25.49, IT WAS DELIVERED ON MARCH 30th 2012.
IT'S A HALF DECENT PHONE BUT THE BATTERY RUNS OUT WITH VERY LITTLE WARNING. SIEMENS GIGASET TECH HELP TELL ME IT'S FAULTY AND SHOULD BE RETURNED FOR REFUND OR REPAIR.
THE PROBLEM. MY LOCAL COMET STORE NEED THE PHONE TO ESTABLISH IF THERE'S A FAULT; REASONABLE ENOUGH. ONCE ESTABLISHED THEY WILL ORDER A REPLACEMENT (STORES DON'T STOCK THEM) OR GIVE ME A REFUND; REASONABLE ENOUGH. I WOULD LIKE A REPLACEMENT BUT IT MEANS BEING WITHOUT A PHONE FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN HAVING TO MANUALLY INPUT ALL MY CONTACTS AGAIN. NO EASY TASK.IF I HAD A REPLACEMENT BEFORE TAKING THE FAULTY ONE BACK IT WOULD SOLVE EVERYTHING, I WOULDN'T BE WITHOUT A USEABLE PHONE AND I COULD TRANSFER MY CONTACTS TO THE REPLACEMENT PHONE VERY EASILY.THIS IS ACHIEVABLE BUT COMET SAY I WOULD HAVE TO BUY THE NEW PHONE AT IT'S MUCH DEARER PRICE OF NEARLY £40 AND WHEN I TOOK THE FAULTY ONE BACK (HAVING TRANSFERRED MY CONTACTS NUMBERS) FOR A REFUND THEY WOULD ONLY REFUND THE PRICE I PAID FOR THE FAULTY ONE.i.e £25.49.
I ASKED COMET CUSTOMER SERVICE IF THEY WOULD MAKE AN EXCEPTION AND SELL ME A REPLACEMENT PHONE FOR THE SAME PRICE AS THE FAULTY ONE. THEY SAID NO.
