I am not a web designer but I do have a pretty good basic understanding of how the things work.
Two weeks ago I could not open my website in either web brouser or via Streamline control panel.
Apparently, my account has been suspended and all the website wiped out from the servers. It was second time that my website dissapeared from the servers and the first time I had to upload it all back through no fault of mine.
I looked into the matter further. All invoices seemed to have been paid. But my account details have been changed - and very much NOT by me! Somebody on their end must have done something wrong in the accounts database, tried to correct the mistake and re-set my details with out-of-date email address and ticked the personal account box when my account has always been business. In the Status area: Account - cancelled, Control Panel - cancelled.
I've submitted a ticket. Got a reply that I have an outstanding bill of £ 118 to pay for service renewal. The bill which I haven't received (sent to an out-dated email) and cannot view because it is not displayed in the Invoices section!!!
I've dug deeper and opened a can of worms which prompted me to request the account closure. I also asked the Streamline to re-point my domain (MY domain!) to another host. They refused on the basis I haven't paid the renewal bill. So, they demanded the renewall bill for 2 years to be paid to be able to close the account and get my own domain back!
Basically, in the further correspondence the Streamline did not answer me any of my many questions but instead referred to their Terms and Conditions which could only be applied if they would provide a proper service which they surely didn't.
I've retrieved my domain via Nominet where it was originally registered at, and I am very happy now to host with the Unlimited Web Hosting. Very easy to navigate your way around, almost immediate and professional responce to the support tickets, all questions answered.
AWOID STREAMLINE!
