“Orion Solar System Imager is really a Lunar Imager”

Written on: 01/04/2012 by sniffy99 (1 review written)

Bought this as a basic introduction to astrophotography and it's supposed to be able to image the solar objects like the moon, mars , saturn etc.
It manages to image the moon fairly well although it may get in too close with some telescopes.
Tried to image planets but it just does not seem to be able to do this. I think that it has not enough light gathering ability. When you add filters like light pollution etc you cannot see the object at all.

If you want to be able to get images of Mars etc, choose something better.
