General Comments
This is not a review on any one Chevrolet K5 Blazer, or GMC Jimmy for that matter, it is based on all of them in a whole based on my personal experience with 3 of them starting with the begining, in 1995 by dad bought a then 10 year old 85 model with a 305 carb'd motor yes it was a dog but it was good offroading and in the snow, my brother then lifted the truck 6 inches and put 35 inch tires on it. It was a great truck until my dad wanted something smaller and got a toyota. Two years ago I bought my first K5 a 1990 model with a Fuel injected 350ci motor with 210hp and 300ft lbs torque, but it wasnt stock, it had injectors for a 454 ci in it and a cat less flowmaster 40 series system and a hypertech chip on the dyno it put out 325hp and 383 ft lbs torque, riding on 33s and a 4 inch lift it was the best vehicle I ever owned. except for all the power blew out the kinda weak 10 bolt rear axle.. after this my dad forced me to get rid of it. so i did... on new years eve 2003-4 I was at a friends house and we got to talking and I decided to buy his 1984 k5 after he started it up as our noisemaker at his party.... the next day it was mine.... this one needs a full resto and is not as nice as my 90 but it will be very similar as im going to make it just like it.
