“Cockroaches and cobwebs, not to mention several thefts”

written by ginettewheatley on 03/02/2012

Just don't bother.

I would like to say that we are lucky, we go away, 6-10 times a year, and generally stay in budget accommodation, so we thought we knew what to expect, but This hotel opened a whole new world for us.

The apartment was filthy, the black hairs in the bidet stayed there all 10 days we did (we just decided not to use it and wait and see). They didn't even pretend to change the sheets because we had put the two single beds together, the towels changed once and floor swept once. The cobwebs stayed.

Reception staff were rude, the shower was fixed after 3 days and as many complaints, (it broke again, same problem next day), the blanket I asked for never appeared, even though I asked in both english and spanish, just in case there was a translation issue, and after demanding to be moved because we found 8 cockroaches running around one particular night, we were given a can of spray to get rid of them ourselves. This did help but did not get rid of them totally and 2 of them even managed to get inside the fridge!

The cooker didn't work properly, the hobs were broken, I put a bath towel over the worktop and used this before preparing any food or drinks because they were thick with grease, hairs, bits of things... there were electric wires hanging in most rooms. Also, Several people were broken into while we were there, they were offered no help.

Please be aware the hotel is up a VERY steep hill, and then a VERY steep walk down from reception to your room if like us, you were near pool level. It is not for the faint hearted and the hill must be made to go to town or the beach, which is about a 10 min walk down (and a bit longer coming back up). It is also on Costa Adeje, by the Playa de Torviscas, it is NOT in Playa de las Americas as advertised. The proper playa de las americas beach can be walked to in about 20 mins inland, or 40 mins round the coastal walkway.

The town itself is great, and very cheap, and some really pretty areas of it, despite its size. The restaurant, bar and cleaning staff were all happy and polite to us, though I did dread trying to get anything that resembled customer service from reception.

Will probably go back to the resort, for cheap winter sun, its great, but will definitely stay at another hotel.
