“The Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX APO IF HSM Professional...”

Written on: 09/01/2004 by TonyStIves (4 reviews written)

Good Points
One of the sharpest lenses in it's catagory. Fast constant f 2.8. Fast silent HSM (Hyper Sonic Motors) make for bear instant focusing. Focus can also be done manually with no switching. Works on Film SLR's as well as Digital SLR's.

Bad Points
I can't think of any bad points. This lens is heavy and it's large too but, any lens this fast and in an equivlent focal length is bound to be as heavy.

General Comments
The Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX APO IF HSM Professional Zoom lens is one of the best available and well known for it's image quality. The (APO) apochromatic optical elements and Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass, delivers high image contrast, resolution and color saturation. FAST f2.8 continuous aperture offers superb low light imaging and focusing. Hyper Sonic Motors (H.S.M.) provide silent, fast focus and allow for manual focus when needed. An internal focusing (IF) system means that the front barrel does not rotate during focusing. For stability and the use of specialty filters and mounting the "Perfect Hood".

This lens with a street price of $700 is about half the price of Nikon's [email protected] with many compatible features and quailty.
