We've had a washer and dryer from Whirlpool for well over 8 years now. The only thing we did during that time was give it a "tune up." This was done by a neighbour, and it only took about half an hour. I don't know exactly what he did with it, but there were no parts needed for the "tune up." In reality, it was like it was turbo-charged when my friend finished his version of a tune up, and our clothes came out cleaner than ever. As far as washers go, the washer runs quietly, and the power, washing options, and so on are great for a washer that gets a lot of use.
