I booked a 'superior, luxury apartment' in Belgrade as part of our honeymoon. The pictures on the booking website were nothing like the property we found ourselves in. It was a disgrace.
The bed was placed in a narrow alcove and so you couldn't walk around it. You had to slide out and climb in. The sofa had cigarette burns, the bed linen was threadbare and discoloured. The shower was so narrow that it gave you claustrophobia. Every single fitting was from the lowest quality. It also smelt of smoke, despite it being non smoking. I could go on about electric cables and other things...
Again I couldn't cancel the reservation because we had arrived. I wrote several emails but got responses from various people asking me again to repeat the booking number and id when I had written it so many times.
The owner made us pay one night then he was going to tell booking that we never turned up so he didn't have to pay commission for the 4 nights. In this way we couldn't even write any reviews to warn other tourists.
I haven't responded to their persistent email asking did I arrive or not. I am thinking about what to do.
This place got a 9.2 average in reviews. How? They must all be made up.
Never using booking again. It has spoilt our honeymoon. We have now checked into the marriott at great expense.
