Having had a very good service in the past with GEM, I am extremely disappointed with the service after a recent breakdown. We were originally told that assistance would arrive in approximately one hour. However, after no one arrived after an hour I had to repeatedly contact them to ask why no one was arriving. Eventually, after 2 hours, someone arrived to help me. My car was towed to a garage within 10 miles but the rescue driver then informed me that he was 'not insured' to drive me home even though I pay for onward travel through my membership! I was left alone outside a garage waiting for a family member to pick me up - that or face a nine mile country hike in the darkness. This is not what I pay for and this bad experience has totally shaken my confidence in GEM. I very much doubt I will be recommending them in future.
