“Don't attend intial screening interview”

written by Sam_gleic on 17/08/2019

I was called in to meet with a recruiter face to face. I was told they had several roles for me and that I should come in to meet the recruiter and discuss. I met with the recruiter, who initally seemed very nice. He intially had an old copy of my CV with him and I told him I had moved on from that company. He then proceeded to ask several questions about my current role, but concentrated more on the company than on my skillset or what I'm ambitious about. He asked questions around company size, CRM we use, ESM we use etc..when I questioned this he stated that it's so that he could closely align my skills with what his clients were looking for. I asked him what's the point of asking me how many people are in the complany (something he can find out himself on companies house). His answer was that some of his clients wouldn't want someone from a small company. I'm pretty sure this is illegal! Long story short, I don't think he liked that I saw through him and he decided that the "relationship" wouldn't work thanked me for my time..

Don't attend! Don't give them any information about your current company and only focus on your skills. They are asking to find out information about your current company so they can get businesss from the company by stating they have candidates who use a particular CRM etc...don't fall for it!
