Yesterday I bought some Co-op cottage cheese with pineapple dated 12th July for £1 from the Chesterton Road branch in Cambridge, as I was passing through. When I took the lid off it was raised slightly which I thought was odd, but when I tasted it, it was fizzy and obviously off.
So I have just been to my local Co-op in Cottenham to try to change it or get a refund. After waiting for the duty manager, I was told they couldn't do either and I would have to drive back to the branch in Cambridge to take it back because otherwise the stock count would be out. This is absurd- I have never been told this by another retailer. What a ridiculous rule!
So now I have no cottage cheese, and nothing to show for my £1. In this day and age of people not supporting their local shops, ridiculous situations like this make me realise why!
