I went onto a website offering comparison on different insurances. After putting all my information in, aim4agreatquote offered the cheapest building and contents insurance. I went on to buying it. When I received the paperwork I realised that the information was wrong. I had put onto the website that I live near a small stream, however the insurance papers stated that there was no running water near me. I then tried to correct my details and was asked to pay over £100 extra. I signed none of the papers sent to me as I believe I have been sold something unsuitable. I was told it would cost me £55 to cancel the policy I never wanted. When I tried to explain on the phone that I was sold something which I did not request and which was clearly not suitable the guy I talked to started having such a go at me that I had to ask him if it would be ok if I just could say what I would like to say without him keep interrupting me. In the end I asked him for the e-mail address of an independent watchdog, where I could complain to. He would not give me the information but instead told me his manager would phone me. This never happened. I then e-mail and asked again to cancel my policy and requested again an e-mail address to complain. I was then told that my policy had been cancelled on my phone call. I had never received a confirmation. I would have thought for £55 I could at least expect an e-mail confirming the cancellation. After a further 3 times requesting an e-mail address, where I could put my complaints to, I was given the internal e-mail of his manager, the same one who never bothered to call me back in the first place and not an independent complains department. I was told that I would receive my money back after 45 days, it actually took 63 days. On top of everything else, has he not managed once to get my name right. He missed out 5 letters each time.
