“I purchased a 2007 Vauxhall Tigra Exclusiv on the 17...”

Written on: 23/01/2010

I purchased a 2007 Vauxhall Tigra Exclusiv on the 17 July, 2009, with 9 months to run on the "Manufacturers Warranty", and given another year Network Q Warranty. Just before Christmas 2009 I developed a water leak behind the driver's set, which soaked the carpet. Upon taking it to my dealer, where I purchased the car, they explained that the sills were full of water, they drained them, and also told me the water was getting in because the speakers had not been sealed in the door properly!!!! Within 3 days of getting the car back, it was extremely damp and the windscreen took half an hour to demist and it was even frozen solid "Inside". I took it back to the dealer, who had the car for four days. They took the carpets out and the seats and completely dried the car. On both occasions they did the repair work "free of charge", giving me the impression it was covered under the warranty. At no time did they tell me it was a "gesture of goodwill" 2 weeks on the same leak has occurred. I phoned up the dealer who informed me that the Manufacturers Warranty did not cover this, they had phoned Vauxhall, who informed them they were not prepared to help! I took legal advice and was told that because the dealer had given me the impression it was repaired "under Warranty", they should put the problem right. I am waiting to hear back after their Management has had a meeting regarding my case. They have, in fact, admitted to me that they should have told me it was done as a gesture, and luckily I had a friend with me when I collected the car, who heard my conversations with the dealer. My argument is with Vauxhall "why give a 3 Year Warranty, and then inform me its only covered for one year"! Also has anyone else had this problem and where was the problem coming from. I love my car, but its completely put me off. I had a 2006 plate Tigra from new, and wish I had never traded it in for the one I have now!!!!!!
