WRITE A REVIEW

“Everyone knows about Scott, and most people have heard...”

Good Points
This is a thrilling story leading up to the last fatal journey of Scott and a handful of other, among then Edward Wilson - I had never heard of him before reading this book - but now know him as a hero with a valiant character, A Christian, an explorer, a naturalist and an artist. The writing is vivid, and excellent at describing not only the characters of people, but also the scenery and conditions newar the Pole. Ms. Willians is particularly good at using her medical background to illuminate the health and trials of the participants

Bad Points
There are many references to Wilson's raptures on seeing the colours of the scenery - these he reproduced in may sketches which are extant, but this book only uses back and white images.

General Comments
Everyone knows about Scott, and most people have heard about Oates' sacrifice, but this book covers fresh ground in the person of Edward Wilson - someone to admire and respect, and with a most attractive character. I did not want to end it because his life was so fascinating, and his character so admirable.
