“I got an O2 X1 for my birthday, and was thrilled at...”

written by sophie222 on 05/07/2004

Good Points
A good camara, and amazing ringtones, a big screen and quite stylish... but after that... thats it.

Bad Points
It can only store 10 text messages... far from enough. I've had problems with it from the start, for example, from day 3 it has been freezing, shutting down and the screen goes back, SEVERAL TIMES a day. It is slow, there are hardly any special features, except my friends were impressed with the motion recording. The phone did not come with any interesting games or applications. I tend to find the phone does not record any missed calls, and that's a big problem considering that hardly any calls actually get through, don't ask why. The phone itself is actually very slow, and texting I find is quite difficult because of this. When not using the predictive texter, it takes about a minute to write a word, because it is so slow and fingering and piecing together letters. If you type too fast the words get left behind and the phone cannot catch up with you.

General Comments
I got an O2 X1 for my birthday, and was thrilled at the fact I was getting what I thought was a fantastic colour camera phone for a smaller price. However I soon found that wasn't the case. I have found other owners of this phone have had the same problem as me, which is that it continuously shuts down, freezes and goes black. Around 3 days after I was given the phone I became disappointed. At first it looked so good.

I hadn't actually seen anyone with the phone, so when I look back it was silly to have chosen it. I would not have done if I knew what it was like. If you want a phone for simply ringing, and having incredible ringtones, then this phone is for you. However if you are a (teenager) or someone who particularly enjoys sending texts, messing around and having fun this is definitely not for you.

Firstly, the games are very boring

2)Its slow, texting takes ages.

3)I found it was actually very hard to use, it was complicated.

4)It only stores 10 texts... (that's inbox AND outbox)

4)Except the camera there's nothing else too do. You can't be bothered to text, because it's so slow, and if you try ringing people you won't have any signal.

5)People say that the choice of background/ wallpapers is good. Well, there is one of bulrushes, one of space, one of a butterfly. It's ok if your a naturist, but what happened to choice? When you put a photo as the wallpaper it has to be stretched and goes all fuzzy.

6)It can only store around 35 photos, which might sound a lot but it's not.

7)One pretty big thing I was disappointed with, well what can I say? You'd be writing a message and it shuts down. Or taking a photo and it freezes. Or it goes black. Or won't start up. Or shut down when you need it to. Or won't receive calls. Is there something wrong with the actually programming of the phone because I know I'm not the only one.

Well, overall this 'dream' mobile was a mistake. I came to the sad conclusion that 02 just weren't ready to make there own phone yet, and hadn't had enough ideas either. It's now been sent off to get mended, but when it comes back I'm not keeping it. I'm buying myself the Nokia 3200. It's actually reliable, and everyone knows they're decent. A bit of advice too people buying a new phone, buy one that's well known. Buy a make you already know is decent, not a new one trying to make a breakthrough. Pay a little extra for a phone you know will be good, because mine cost a little less and it was useless.
