“You don't believJust image…. Togete this terrible...”

Just image…. Together with your wife and two children you hire a rental car in the summer holiday. So far so good! The car had only 12.000 km and was nice and clean. After the first week I noticed a strange noise in the engine compartment. Beacause I drive the car like it is my own car I decided to give the Drivalia Road Assitance a quick ring to discuss the issue. A very kind gentleman offered a taxi to the airport and to tow the car. I read in the contract that that would cost me min. € 250 (!) so I asked if it was possible to drive the car to the airport myself. After a quick consult between the Drivalia office and the Road Assistance they approved a swop of the car at the airport. After 1,5 hour drive (gasoline at my own costs) I handed over the ‘old’ car. The lady told me that I have contacted their Road Assitance and that they charged them for €250 and I had to pay it to Drivalia! Their Road Assistance seemed to be an external company and my phonecall of 4 minutes was now the most expensive phone call ever! After a huge discussion they offered me a discount (based on my sad story I assume) on the penalty (negotionable fee’s?) and I only had to pay € 185! I refused to pay and asked them what would have happened if I would have returned the car with the noise and didn’t mention is. The aswer of the lady was: I would have saved you € 185.
So, you drive a rental car and when you don’t trust the car, they simply charge you after consulting for 4 minutes € 185! Easy tourist money and a zero risk business!
