I've been so appalled by the service I received from the British Boot Company that I felt compelled to warn others off! Long story short (because the full saga would be a weighty tome filled with great woe and gnashing of teeth), I ordered and paid for a pair of boots in store to be delivered to my home, they never arrived, I have yet to receive my money back. I've spent the last month and a half making phone calls to the British Boot Company to no avail. I've spoken to various staff members, who, while generally pleasant on the phone, have fed me a stream of misinformation, whether through a series of highly unlikely and unfortunate events, or through a desire to mislead, who can say. I have no boots, although apparently my cheque is 'in the post'. Unregistered and untrackable, naturally.
Maybe a combination of general incompetence and a series of highly suspect courier mix ups is responsible for the situation. Regardless, the end result is that I have no boots, no money and the suspicion that I was misled and mocked every time I rang. I hold out little hope that a cheque will ever arrive, and am forced to consider reclaiming the money through the governments online money claim service.
The British Boot Company has a good range of boots. If you can walk in to the shop, find something you like and walk out clutching it tightly it's probably as good a shop as any. But I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole for internet or instore orders.
