The Netgear USB wireless adapter WN111 added wireless networking capability to my laptop. The installation procedure with the CD was straightforward. The device has worked reliably and performed well from the beginning.
Installation of the accompanying software is mandatory to use the networking. On the other hand the connection management package can be switched off in favour of Microsoft's equivalent. (I didn't like the Netgear software because it is too intrusive with various nags and repeatedly takes the focus away from other windows, meaning you need to Alt+Tab a lot to get on with your work).
There are cheaper alternatives to the WN111 but I chose to pay a bit more for reliability and performance.
A minor problem is that unplugging the adapter while the laptop is in standby mode completely locks up the laptop.
Requires Microsoft Windows 2000+SP4 or XP or Vista.
USB 1.1 or 2.0.
