General Comments
We arrived as newlyweds at the Merville Beach on 21st June 2005, to be met with a cold drink and a refreshing towel. From there things just got better as we were upgraded to a superior room with a fantastic view of the Indian Ocean and the lovely tropical gardens - plus the biggest bed I'd ever seen!

The beach is amazing, plenty of sun loungers to go around and the option for having a fresh beach towel each day. there is a safe area for swimmers (we saw lots of tropical fish here) and plenty of opportunities for snorkelling etc. The water sports were great -particularly the water skiing which I'd never done before and was slightly wary of as I injured my leg quite badly last year. The two staff members in charge of this reassured me lots and it was the most fun I'd had in ages.

All of the staff were fantastic, more friendly and helpful than I've ever encountered, they are a credit to the hotel. Our favourite staff members were Francois and Vijay, who really looked after us well.

The food was just wonderful, particularly the buffet nights on which we just ate and ate..... The table d'hote nights were also very good, we always chose the Mauritian speciality dish which was excellent. The breakfasts were amazing to with a large variety of hot and cold food plus made to order omlettes, eggs and waffles. Needless to say from not eating a lot before our wedding to stuffing our faces and drinking wine for 2 weeks solid, it did take a toll on our waistlines! (worth every minute though).

We did manage to go on a couple of trips, the first to the Ile aux Cerfs which was amazing, particularly the speedboat trip. I'd recommend the trips sold by the guys on the beach - you won't be disappointed and you're guaranteed to see the real Mauritius. Also I'd recommend going to Port Louis and Palmplemousse (get a guide or you'll not have a clue) for the day.

Highly enjoyable relaxing honeymoon, I'd recommend it to couples especially. We were so sad to have to leave.
