“Zooplus- Good at selling and taking money POOR AT SERVICE”

Written on: 31/07/2018

I purchased a Plastic Drinking Water Fountain with a pump, in June 2018 for about £20, everything good.
The pump stopped working and I asked for a replacement and got this reply
from the Zooplus Service Team

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We are happy to assist!

The proper function of your Pet Fountain can only be ensured if the following care instructions are followed, because tap water with a high lime content, cat hair and dust make a regular cleaning of the pump, filter and pool urgently required.

Here are our care tips:

To descale the pump, insert the individual pump parts for about 2 hours in a solution of water, water softener and vinegar and rinse them thoroughly again after descaling. The pump should be descaled every 2 to 4 weeks, with the specific timescale dependent upon the hardness of the water.

It is not possible to arrange a replacement pump under warranty in the case of the pump becoming calcified. However, we do sell replacement pumps to assist in such cases.

Please also comply with the recommended minimum water levels, as advised. The pump must not run dry. Running dry will void the warranty.

Check the charcoal filter every 30 days. If the water dispenser is used by a single animal, then the filter can be changed once every 60 to 90 days (dependent upon the frequency of use). In case you have several animals, please replace the filter with increased frequency.

The fountain itself must be cleaned once a week with hot, soapy water.

Ceramic Cat Fountains have a fired, glazed surface and are, therefore, like your dishes, dishwasher safe and extremely easy to clean. Alternatively, ceramic drinking fountains can be manually cleaned with a soft sponge and a soap-based cleaner.

Please ensure to rinse the drinking fountain and the decalcified pump parts carefully after cleaning to remove any traces of detergent being left in the drinking water of your cats.

We recommend the special instructions of the Manufacturer and these instructions must be observed.

We are at your disposal in case of further enquiries

There was nothing indicating the above on the Zooplus website and the small A5 two page manufacturers booklet that came with the Fountain also had none of this information.
I consider the service that they provide for when customers are dissatisfied to be far below what we are entitled to expect.
