The Samsung S5230 is a good phone. The design of the casing is nice, with a nicely textured back-plate, and an attractive face, it does not look like a cheap phone. The styling is far better than that of the LG Cookie, which my sister has. The Cookie, to be honest, looks really cheap and nasty. The UI is good enough, but it definitely isn't going to win an awards for attrativeness. Menu navigation is so-so; the touch screen is occasionally iffy, being capacitative, and may think you are tapping something when really you are trying to scroll. The on-screen keyboard is good, and the built-in accelerometer can tell when you tilt the phone to the side, which automatically puts the keyboard into landscape QWERTY mode. The MP3 player is decent, although a bit slow, and the player bar is somewhat fiddly to use. The video player is ok, but can get very slow when playing higher resolution videos. The camera is ok, the same as the LG Cookie. I have never used the video camera, as I hate using phones for that. The built in browser is pretty awful, but luckily it runs Opera Mini fine, which makes a perfect replacement. Loses marks for lack of WiFi and 3G, but for the price it is pretty good.
