We have recently moved to a house with its reception rooms on the first floor - with potentially great views limited by standard size windows. By enlarging two windows down to first floor level and fitting french doors with glass-fronted balconies we have transformed the outlook.
We enquired and found that we did not require planning permission for this, we simply had to pay for two inspections by Building Control but that did not present any difficulties.
The balcony kit was ingeniously packed and the assembly instructions were clear. Installation was rapid and the end result exceeds our expectations. We are very pleased we opted for a glass solution and already we can see the benefit of choosing self-cleaning glass. We were concerned as to whether the handrail would be intrusive but we need not have worried.
A very succesful project!
