Good Points
Looks good, but that's it!

Bad Points
Apart from the way it looks, everything else. I have nothing positive to say about this seat.

General Comments

My wife and I had heard of "Jane" (pronounced "Yahnay")being one of the few manufacturers to make "lie flat" car seats which suited our baby for longer journeys to see grandparents and the occasional holiday - better for the baby than being in the seating position according to the experts.

The Jan Matrix Cup seat was not cheap but when it arrived it certainly looked good, all trendy-looking fabrics and solid plastic. However, it is so difficult to use that it has almost had me in tears on two occasions. I don't know where to start in listing its faults but suffice to say that we think it has been designed by an amateur!

A few sample problems:

Starting with the instructions, these have been translated from , I think, Spanish , and require some interpretation. There are two buckles at each end of the seat which fix onto the seat belts and these buckles flap around threatening to fall off and become lost. The buckles themselves are either jammed shut or flap open, leaving me feeling insecure they could open at any time with the poor safety implications.

The lining of the car seat is an unbreathable plastic which left our baby soaked in sweat. Then there are the shoulder straps themselves, almost impossible to adjust without removing the seat from the car and leaving both baby - and parent - close to tears! Finally, the seat is supposed to be appropriate for babies up to 12 months which I doubt as our baby is only 4 months old, of average size, and fills the seat already! So we have been duped into buying a seat that will not last as long as we expected.

This is an expensive, premium brand baby seat which is a poor relation of the Brita seat we have used up until now (the only reason we bought it was the "lie flat" function). I can't wait to get it on Ebay.
