Good Points
I fly USA-Europe frequently and as far as I am concerned, Martinair delivers a great overall experience. Lots of staff at check-in and a safe, clean, friendly flight. The staff were well trained and friendly. The meals were good. A much better experience than economy class on US airlines. Good prices too. Flying into Amsterdam means great connections anywhere in Europe.
Bad Points
No real bad points, as the negatives reflect explicit decisions Martinair has made about their product. For example, there are no frequent flyer points, but the fare was inexpensive. I paid 40% less than comparable US carriers.
General Comments
I found Martinair through a web search. They don't heavily promote themselves, so I was a bit hesitant when I first learned about the company. However, I gave it a try after reading the reviews and will definitely fly them again. The flight attendants had fitted, snappy uniforms that looked good and make a good impression about Martinair. The best thing was "there are no bad attitudes" from either staff or passengers. My fellow passengers appeared to be good people looking for economical travel, not bargain hunters who wanted to pay nothing and then expect first class treatment. The meals were acceptable, similar to a home-cooked meal, which I would much rather have than a pretty looking plate with no food. Interestingly, even though Martinair offered extensive bar service, hardly anyone used it, even though the prices were inexpensive. I think Martinair has a policy of hiring good people and trying to keep them, which makes all the difference in the world.
