Zanussi ZWF1421

My Zanussi ZWF1421 Washer was great at first, then a few problems began to happen after 6 months or so: For example it doesn't always take fabric conditioner, struggles take washing powder as builds up underneath drawer. Doesn't always spin out and takes a long time on the economy wash. Also Mould formed in the water jets.

We needed a new machine in a hurry as our old one was faulty. After browsing the electrical stores we settled on this one from Comet - good price and apparently good spec.

Having not bought a machine for some years, we now realise technology has moved on - all machines used to have a mechanical programmer where you turned the knob to your chosen program and it turned during the wash so you knew exactly where the machine was in the cycle. Modern machines don't do this, the knob stays put and it washes away. Some machines have a program indicator which shows the stages of the wash - we soon realised how useful this would be! The economy wash on this Zanussi takes 2.5 hours so it would be useful to know how long you have left.

We had a major problem with this machine in that the fabric conditioner we put in never seemed to have any effect. We tried various types, various quantities but it did no good. Maybe we had a bad one, maybe they all do it, we can't say but the small compartment for the conditioner can't help. To cut a long story short, after 2 engineer visits and no improvement, we insisted on a refund from Comet which we eventually got. Learning from this experience we spent a little bit more and bought a Bosch Exxcel 24465 which has been excellent so far.
