“We ended up eating at ambles brasserie as it was...”

Written on: 14/04/2009 by deadwrong (1 review written)

Good Points
service was good. at least we got to sit down and have some food.

Bad Points
very run-of-the-mill menu, nothing that stood out. poor quality food. the veggie option was dire. terrible background music. badly lit (far too bright).

General Comments
We ended up eating at ambles brasserie as it was pretty much the only place with tables available on Easter Saturday (more fool us for not making reservations). The menu was pretty average but the ominous 'vegetarian dish of the day' listed as the only veggie option on the menu did not bode well.

i had the pate to start which only had the slightest hint of liver in it masked with a generous helping of herbs. my main was the 'double chop' of lamb which had more fat and bone than meat. the gravy sauce, i must add was very nice. this came with a side of lacklustre and overcooked veg. my partner (the veggie) had hobson's choice which turned out to be some taglietelle cooked to the point that it disintegrated in your fingers, covered in what i can only describe as tinned tomatoes, a few mushrooms thrown in, and topped with some pretty tasteless cheese.
