Good Points
Great picture, good for fast moving events with 100Hz scanning. Great connectivity, 4x HDMI, 2x Scart, 1x USB etc. Good looking TV with a single sheet of glass on the front, right to the edges. The supplied base is sturdy and allows the set to swivel through about 45 degrees. I like the USB connection for displaying JPEG files and the PC connection enables it to be used as a computer monitor. The handset is very easy to understand and nice to use and the CD-based Owners Manual is pretty comprehensive. The paper manual has enough info to get you started. The set has 4 power-saving levels, which progressively dim the display. So, if you want to save electricity, just watch in a darkened room with the display turned down to suit.

Bad Points
None really, so this is a bit picky. I find the standard audio output good enough, but if you want to connect to your sound system, there is no analogue audio out, only digital optical. Be careful about leaving static images on the screen for too long as a plasma screen will retain the images, although it has built-in features to try to remove this should it happen. When showing 4:3 format pictures, the border is light grey, rather than black, which seems odd. Oh and one more thing, our cat tried to jump on the top of the set, causing a serious wobble, so I drilled up through the base, using a couple of the existing self tapping screw holes and fixed it to our media centre using black plastic capped screws - it now looks as if it was part of the design!

General Comments
I have only just got this set so these are just my first impressions. I wanted a reasonably-priced 32" set (viewing from around 11ft) and decided to go for a plasma screen as the picture quality is more lifelike than a typical mid-price LCD screen. The plasma screen is protected by a sheet of glass, unlike a lot of LCD screens, so they are a bit more resistant to accidental damage. There is only this 32" plasma TV available at present - the LG 32PG6000. The good picture quality of the plasma screen used to be offset by the high power consumption, but having done a bit of reading, the max power figure given may be nothing like the average required in use. For example, with a bright white picture, the power used can be as high as 240W, but whilst watching the recent F1 Grand Prix, the power used was around 130W. On a darkish film it drops well below 100W. The stand-by power is 0.8W. If you like tinkering with the picture or sound, there is plenty of scope using the menu! If you don't, you don't need to as there are standard set-ups for different types of program at the click of a button. The feature list on this set is quite stunning - although it is HD ready, just about the only thing missing is the Full-HD display, which is not possible on 32" plasma (and apparently not really necessary either). I tried to buy the LG from RicherSounds, because of their service and warranty, but they had sold out countrywide! Tesco Direct had them in stock for £400 + £5 delivery and delivered in 2 days and on time, but their 5 year warranty price is far too high at £250!! Compare that with RicherSounds 5 year warranty at 10% of the purchase price - see what I mean? The screen has an expected life of 30 years at 4 hours per day, so it should see me out! I'll take the one year manufacturer's warranty and hope that any problems show up in the first year!
