“Bars fall off !”

written by AmberGuzman148 on 23/02/2018

We paid a very high price for Everest wooden frame windows, only to find the Georgian bars gradually droop/fall off and various unprotected edges start to decay. We found Everest have very negative customer service who try to deter you from calling by saying that they don't have appointments for months or you must wait until the weather is better. I've had the Georgian bars fixed twice - some of the repaired ones coming off again. One engineer admitted that this is because they often make the bars too large in the factory so they don't seat properly on the adhesive tape on the glass. I was waiting for enough bars to fall off again before arranging the next visit - currently about 9 are drooping or detached - but Everest now say they have no records of my most recent repair and that the Windows are now just out of warranty. They will make charges for any visit.
My personal advice is: 1. Ensure you get details of similar installations locally so you can view actual examples before buying - remember issues may take a year or so to manifest themselves. 2. Do not be fooled by the salesmen who give the impression that the lifetime guarantee applies to the whole window - after you have purchased you find this only covers the sealed glass unit. 3. If you have already purchased from Everest, keep detailed records of every single interaction you have with them you will need chapter and verse. 4. Put all communications in writing wherever possible.
