Working In A Pc Repair Shop We Are Constantly Tend
Working in a PC repair shop we are constantly tending to machines heavily infected with viruses, some of these already running products such as Norton, McAffee etc.
We have tried various products to clean these machines and Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) 6 and now version 7 win hands down. The product installs without a problem on new installs and older systems and the Proactive Defense option helps to lock the system down whilst the product is configured.
Once it is installed KIS starts working immediately and can disinfect most viruses easily (some products seem to struggle with viruses in the system restore for instance, not KIS).
The training mode feature in the firewall is very useful at controlling what accesses the internet as you try to lock down an already infected system.
As an IT technician I have found the flexibility of KIS to be fantastic, turning features on and off can produce a very in depth and powerful tool to clean an already infected system and by turning off features such as the training mode in the firewall results in a product that silently protects you whilst keeping itself up to date, downloading updates sometimes several time a day.
We recently compared F-Secure Internet Security 2008 with the latest Kaspersky incarnation. F-Secure detected 68 viruses on our test system but only managed to remove half of them. Kaspersky on the other hand detected nearly 80 and got rid of every one.
We have found similar results comparing KIS with Norton, McAffee, AVG, Bitdefender and Bull guard.
As a final note, I have yet to experience any compatibility problems with XP or Vista, and we have had all the systems under the sun through our workshop.

Having Purchased Kaspersky Anti Virus 6.0 I Have F
Having purchased Kaspersky Anti Virus 6.0 I have found it to be a waste of time and money. The first computer (desktop) I loaded onto crashed to the "blue screen of death". The second, a desktop (with a new installation of Windows XP) Kaspersky also failed to install. I requested a CD version and re-downloaded, again both failed on second attempts. Later attempts were made on two laptops (Windows XP), this time Kaspersky installed but was met with warnings after rebooting that major components of the software had failed to install correctly. However, Kaspersky support was extremely good but it became obvious (over a few months and various conversations with support) that the antivirus software was plagued by incompatibility issues with XP drivers. For now I continue with Norton 2007 and Zonealarm, they are less hassle!

Having Used Norton Anti Virus Before (see My Less
Having used Norton Anti Virus before (see my less than complementary review) I changed to Kaspersky 5 following a personal recommendation. Kaspersky is slick and non-intrusive to use. I upgraded to version 6 when my subscription ran out, and it is running fine. Looks like (dare I say it...) Norton, but it works very well indeed. Virus updates are available daily, sometimes a few times a day, so I'm very assured of being up to date. Recommended!!
