“Not what it used to be..... the decline of Rome”

The slow decline in service I suppose was inevitable. When Gocardless was a shiny new start-up full of enthusiastic focused people, it really was great!

Sadly as they've grown they've become just another faceless, uncaring, oh-your-just-a-customer large payment processor. You can see this also in the relentless pricing increases.

As they've become larger their customer retention ethos has gone out of the window.

It does have to be said that the technical team have never failed me yet, and seem to have a can-do and here-to-help attitude (sadly lacking from the sales team).

Introduction of new or improved services has dried to non-existent.

With more and more payment processors entering the market, our advice would be shop around on a regular basis.

We will be watching GoCardless over the coming months to see if they can rekindle that start-up mentality.

The truth about the tech start-up revolution is there never was a revolution it always been:

Company launches and it keen and enthusiastic
Company has honeymoon period.
Company becomes just-another-company.
Company plods along just like any other large company.
Company loses customers due to operational complacency.
Company goes bust.
