After 16 months the Strix R48 Remote Steam Switch (the switch you press to make it work) burnt out. Breville will not repair the Hotcup outside of gaurantee period. Strix will only supply the switch to manufacturers. They will not supply the general public or indepandant local repairers. Bear in mind the switch is pressed far more often on a one cup than a Kettle. So the switch will have a far shorter life. Throwing away a hotcup every 16 months cannot be 'Green', it has to be manufactured and disposed of. So, buy a kettle, they cost less and generally will last longer.
