Good Points
This production of Peter Pan was, by far, one of the best pantomimes I have seen in a while. It is full of action, packed with good singing and great original music, all characters were very strong, and the kids in the audience loved it. It was spectacular, engrossing, entertaining, funny and audience participation was modest.
Bad Points
The show itself has no bad points. However, I have but one criticism. It is merely a sound issue, but a good proportion of the singing was difficult to make out because of the volume being too loud but this certainly did not spoil the show.
General Comments
Before now, Peter Pan is a pantomime I have not seen. I went to the His Majesty's theatre in Aberdeen not knowing what to expect, but when I saw that Michael Harrison was on the production team, I knew we were in for a treat. Indeed we were. I was blown away by the finale of Act 1, something a pantomime has not done for a few years!
Alan McHugh is brilliant as dame, Jordan Young fits perfectly into the role of Smee, and Keith Jack (Peter Pan) has a wonderful voice which is put to good use throughout the show. The remaining cast were all excellent, and there was some cracking choreography too.
This production runs until Jan 4th, 2009, so catch it if you can! Well dont to Qdos and HMT!
